Everything is ready for Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony: who will be there and who won’t

Everyone wants to go to Washington. Usually the ceremonies of inauguration of US presidents they do not foresee the participation of foreign leaders but for his return to the White House Donald Trump he decided to overturn the rules and send invitations to similar political figures from every corner of the globe.

The most sensational is perhaps the one that arrived on the Chinese president’s desk Xi Jinpingwho despite rejecting it (however it seems he is sending one of his high representatives) has triggered a chain reaction which has pushed many more or less illustrious colleagues to ask Trump’s secretariat to be able to participate in the event that the January 20th will officially mark the start of his second mandate. According to the NY Postthey would have done it leaders of Mozambique, Nigeria, Peru and Chile. Their chances of receiving affirmative answers, however, are practically nil, given that the future president is very clear about who he will want to clap for him on the day he considers his revenge.

Among the most welcome people there is undoubtedly our Premier, Giorgia Meloniwho during the press conference at the end of the year declared that if the agenda had allowed it he would have participated with pleasure. Although she has not yet provided certainties, considering the idyllic relationships with the tycoon and his right-hand man Elon Mask the chances of seeing her among the front rows are very high.

Maybe alongside a friend Javier Mileipresident of Argentina who responded affirmatively to Trump’s invitation.

The ceremony will take place in front of the Capitol starting from midday local time (around 6pm in Italy). The first to swear, with his right hand raised and his left resting on the Bible supported by his wife, will be Vice President JD Vance, followed by Donald Trump, who will immediately afterwards deliver the inaugural speech. The ceremony will then continue with various moments of entertainment, such as the performance of the Village People that the warhorses will sing Ymca and Macho Manwho have become cornerstones of the entire Tycoon electoral campaign; and that of country singer Carrie Underwood who will sing the song America the Beautiful.

All under the gaze of a considerable slice of Stars and Stripes history. In fact, there will be no shortage of them, in addition to the outgoing president Joe Biden together with first lady Jillthe predecessors George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, unaccompanied by his wife Michellecontrary to what was initially hypothesized.

Second Sky News the British politician will also be part of the audience Nigel Faragewho apparently said he wanted to take advantage of the event to make peace with Elon Musk, who will certainly not be missing – he seems to be joined among others by Jeff Bezos And Mark Zuckerberg – and with whom he had been the protagonist of a rather heated social dispute about a year ago.

Also intending to be in Washington on January 20th Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwayadriven by the intention of Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba’s government to build a relationship of trust with the new administration.

Also the Minister of Aesthetics of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Australian Penny Wong will witness the swearing-in.

However, the guests who will most likely attract the attention of photographers will be the Princes of Wales William and Kateready to be seen in the USA, where they will also represent King Charles, for what will be their first outing together with an official commitment, after the break taken by Kate Middleton for cancer treatment.

Among the guests who have not yet made it known whether they will fly to the States is Nayib Bukele, the president of El Salvador self-defined as “the coolest dictator in the world”; the far-right French politician and former presidential candidate, known for his xenophobic positions, Eric Zemmour; and the Hungarian nationalist prime minister, Viktor Orbán.

Mystery also on the presence of the ex Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaroheld back not by his own will but by the law. Invited and very happy to attend the ceremony, he is however not sure he will be able to do so because after coming under investigation on charges of having launched a coup attempt after losing the 2022 elections, his passport was revoked. It would be up to the Supreme Court judge, Alexandre de Moraes, to return it to him but at the moment he doesn’t seem to have much intention of doing so.
