Steven Nerayoff has filed a defamation lawsuit in New York District Court against a Truth Labs cryptoanalyst, real name Tyler Fayard. Nerayoff claims that Fayard has made sweeping accusations against him on social media, calling him a criminal and an “inhumane fraud,” as well as a secret agent who, at the direction of the government, infiltrated his private life as part of a psychological operation and plot to assassinate him.
Nerayoff claims that Fayard’s actions caused him significant “emotional, mental and economic harm” and is seeking at least $10 million in damages and financial compensation from the Truth Labs cryptanalyst.
Notably, Nerayoff and Fayard had previously worked closely together to investigate the background to the government’s indictment of a former Ethereum adviser for the Storm X ICO scam. Nerayoff was arrested in 2019, and the trial lasted until May 2023, when all charges against the businessman were dropped. At that time, Nerayoff’s defense claimed that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) initially knew that the charges against their client were “factually and legally unfounded.”
In April, Steven Nerayoff sued the U.S. government for $9.6 billion in damages, claiming federal agents orchestrated the investigation and maliciously prosecuted him.
