Aurora Silva Superlano said in an exclusive interview with CNN Arena, this Thursday (1st), that she and her husband, the kidnapped political opponent Freddy Superlano, suffered threats from the government of Nicolás Maduro, from Venezuela.
“Our family has always received threats and has always been victims of persecution. Having a voice like my husband, a national leader in our country, an opponent. We are always living under threat and persecution“, Aurora said to CNN.
She also recounts the last time she saw her husband: “I saw Fred on July 28, on election day. Because of the persecution, I couldn’t stay. We had received threats against him. That was the last time I saw him in person, but I spoke to him shortly before his arbitrary detention.”
Who is Freddy Superlano?
Freddy Francisco Superlano is a politician from the Voluntad Popular party. On Tuesday (30), the party made a post on social media showing a video of the moment when the party leader was allegedly kidnapped by government agents.
The politician has a history of clashes with the Nicolás Maduro government and has already had his election annulled by the country’s National Electoral Council.
Superlano refused the nomination for the Venezuelan opposition’s presidential primaries in favor of María Corina Machado, from the Vente Venezuela organization
