Execution of whistleblower was a “message” from the PCC, prosecutor tells CNN

A month after the execution of businessman Antônio Vinícius Grizbach, at Guarulhos airport, the prosecutor who signed the plea agreement with him, Lincoln Gakiya, told CNN that the murder was a “message” from the PCC to those who betray the criminal faction.

The statement came amid the intensification of investigations to try to identify and locate the masterminds and executors of the crime committed on November 8th.

“That was a message. See Vinícius. I want to make one thing very clear. I offered, proposed and even provided security for Vinícius when he was arrested. I had to take him to [o presídio de] President Venceslau because he would be killed in prison, right? Already by members of the PCC”, defended the prosecutor.

So far, the investigation has not been able to identify who were the perpetrators or those who ordered the crime.

Internally, in the task force investigating the case, there are those who argue that the action could also have come from military personnel from the PM’s rotten band, who were part of a kind of “São Paulo militia” and had been reported by the businessman.

“Regarding suspicions, we cannot exclude any hypothesis. Vinícius had been involved for more than a decade in money laundering and other illicit acts, but above all money laundering at the top of the PCC. He was also involved with corrupt police officers, who also participated in this laundering scheme. So there were a lot of people and he was also involved in the murder of an important PCC leader, Anselmo Cara Preta, one of the biggest drug traffickers here in the state, linked to Marcola. At that moment he was also sworn to death,” Gakiya revealed.

To the CNN Interviews the prosecutor further explained that Gritzbach refused to participate in the São Paulo government’s witness protection program because he wanted to maintain his lifestyle. That was precisely why he would have hired a private escort of military police officers on duty.

THE CNN revealed that the expectation at the top of the PM is that, whether or not the involvement of the escort PMs in the murder is proven, they should be expelled from the corporation for illegally working for a confessed criminal linked to the PCC.

“He said he wouldn’t go into the witness protection program because it didn’t fit his lifestyle. In fact, he continued with criminal activities, that’s the point, right? He didn’t want to give up his life, but he had security, let’s say, private, with police officers who were there regularly providing services to him,” said the prosecutor.
