EXMO, a popular cryptocurrency exchange in Russia and the CIS, was attacked by a DDoS attack yesterday and went offline for several hours. At the moment, the exchange has been restored.
Yesterday, February 15, at about 16:00 Moscow time, EXMO cryptocurrency exchange reported on the social network Twitter that the platform was hit by a DDoS attack. The exchange servers were unavailable, and the site went offline.
Important: DDoS attack on EXMO
Please note the EXMO exchange website is now under the DDoS attack. The servers are temporarily unavailable.
We are solving this issue right now. Please stay tuned.– EXMO (@Exmo_Com) February 15, 2021
In the Telegram channel of the exchange, the administration of the site said that orders continue to be executed, but the exchange’s API is undergoing maintenance. It was impossible to access the trading interface through the mobile application either.
The administration also confirmed that the outage was caused by a DDoS attack and that users’ money was safe. A few hours after the incident, the exchange resumed operations.
Recall that in December, EXMO cryptocurrency exchange suspended the withdrawal of cryptocurrencies due to a hacker attack on hot wallets.
