O Federal Official Gazette (DOU) this Wednesday (7) formalizes the resignation of Esteves Colnago from the position of special secretary of the Treasury and Budget of the Ministry of Economy, retroactive to December 1st. The announcement of the departure had already been made by the Ministry of Economy on the last day 2.
Colnago steps down “upon request” and will serve a six-month quarantine.
For his place, the Economy portfolio chose the current deputy special secretary of the Treasury, Júlio Alexandre, who will act as his replacement until the end of the year, when the Bolsonaro government’s term ends. The nomination has not yet been published.
A career analyst at the Central Bank, with a master’s degree in Economics, Colnago was once Minister of Planning. In a note, the Ministry of Economy said that Colnago thanked Minister Paulo Guedes “for the opportunity to have been part of the ME team since the beginning of this government”.
He had been in the position of special secretary since October 2021. Before, he was head of the Ministry’s Special Institutional Relations Office.
