In an interview with CNN, flight safety expert Roberto Peterka analyzed the possible causes of the accident involving a Voepass plane that crashed in the city of Vinhedo, in the interior of São Paulo. He highlighted that, although weather conditions are the most likely hypothesis, other variables will still be investigated to determine the definitive causes of the crash.
Peterka explained that there are several possibilities to be considered in the investigation of the accident. “Now, what happened for the plane to suddenly crash? Was there any sign before? Could it be a maintenance problem?” the expert asked.
Analysis of initial evidence
Peterka mentioned that, according to witnesses at the scene, the aircraft’s engines were heard running, which could rule out engine failure. However, he stressed that other factors still need to be analyzed, such as possible maintenance issues or failures in instruments essential for navigation.
The expert also addressed the possibility of pilot disorientation, although he considered this hypothesis less likely due to the experience of the crew.
Importance of comprehensive research
Peterka stressed the need for a thorough investigation that considers all possible variables. “Logically we cannot say for sure,” the expert said.
While adverse weather conditions are currently the most obvious factor, Peterka cautioned that this does not necessarily mean it was the sole or primary cause of the accident.
