Explosion in Leverkusen: Serious Injuries and Missing – Extreme Danger Warning

An alarm has been sounded for some hours in Leverkusen, Germany, after the powerful explosion that occurred in the waste incineration plant of the company Currenta, in an industrial park.

The Bild newspaper talks about two “seriously injured” and five missing, citing sources of the owner company.

According to a police statement, there are “many injured”, but it is clarified that “The situation remains confused”.

Dense black smoke has flooded the area and residents warned of “extreme danger”, through the “NINA” application, to remain indoors, with closed windows and doors.

The fire, broadcast by BILD and rebroadcast by the Athenian News Agency, threatens to spread to an adjacent facility with flammable materials, while a large operation of the Fire Brigade and rescue teams is underway in the area.
