At least four people were injured in an explosion caused by an old plane bomb near a busy train station in the German city of Munich, police said on Wednesday (1st).
The explosion took place during construction work taking place near the Donnersbergerbrücke station. More than 40 police officers, two helicopters and other emergency services are on site.
“At the moment there is no evidence of crimes. According to initial investigations, we have three wounded, the danger area is largely isolated and train traffic is blocked on the main route”, said at first the press officer of the Munich police, Peter Werthmann.
Later, the Munich police posted the following update on Twitter: “While working in a tunnel near the Donnersbergerbrücke station, a bomb exploded during a drill. Currently, the number of injured has increased to 4 people.”
The explosion was caused by an old bomb, Munich police press officer Carolin Schrott told CNN.
“There is no danger outside the immediate area,” police said.
