Explosion occurred in fuel storage facility in Russia – a Ukrainian attack had preceded

An explosion of oil products and a leak of flaming oil occurred in a fuel storage facility in the Russian region during the fire extinguishing process that broke out after a Ukrainian attack earlier this week, local authorities said today. “During the extinguishing process, due to the decompression in the burning tank, oil explosion and a leakage of burning oil occurred,” officials said in Telegram. The fire spread to another tank, with the area located in flames reaching 10,000 square meters, they added, twice as high as the original. More than 450 firefighters are trying to extinguish the fire and two have been injured. The Russian Interfax News Agency, citing local authorities, reported that high levels of harmful chemicals, including benzene, were observed in the atmosphere.
