A significant increase of 28.56% is recorded for tomorrow by the wholesale price of electricity in the Greek electricity system.
According to the data of the energy exchange, the price will be on average at 362.22 euros / MWh, from 281.75 euros / MWh today. It is noted that the maximum price will reach 446.52 euros / MWh while the minimum at 281.21 euros / MWh.
Repeated meetings on the adequacy of the electricity system
It is recalled that yesterday, an extraordinary meeting was held under the chairmanship of RAE and with the participation of DEPA, DESFA, PPC as well as representatives of electricity generators (Elpedison, Iros) on the smooth supply of the electricity market.
The reason for the meeting was the information that a LNG cargo that was scheduled to arrive on the 7th of the month, would be delayed for 2 days.
However, during the meeting it was found that due to market conditions and as Greece showed for today (3/3) lower prices than its neighboring countries, significant exports are made.
It is characteristic that a few days ago we had imports of 14 thousand megawatt hours and for today it is planned to export 13 thousand megawatt hours. The difference of 27 thousand megawatt hours is equivalent to the production of about 4 units of natural gas.
In order to carry out these exports, it was found that the electricity producers “pull” from the system larger quantities of natural gas than their initial declarations, with the result that their needs are covered by the balancing gas of DESFA and waste is wasted by them. Revythousa storage areas.
It is noted that in the domestic market participate mainly the gas units, which give lower offers than the PPC lignites, which remain stand by, as well as the hydroelectric ones.
Although at present it was found that there is no immediate risk to the adequacy of the system, it was decided to resume the meeting on Friday in order to review the situation.
If by then the market has not normalized on its own, then RAE is considering the possibility to ask the electricity producers to strictly consume the quantities they declare and not to make excesses that reduce the stocks of Revythousa.
