An explosive device was found and detonated on the Yellow Line of Rio de Janeiro, this Tuesday morning (19). The object, found by employees from Lamsa, the company responsible for managing the road, was close to exit 4, near the Pilares neighborhood, in the north of the capital.
According to information from the Military Police, after being called by Lamsa, agents from the Expressway Policing Battalion (BVPE) were called to check a suspicious object found on the side of the road.
After determining the potential risk of the device, the area was isolated until the arrival of the Bomb Squad from the Special Resources Coordination (Core), which detonated the explosive minutes later. It was an improvised grenade, as the agents pointed out.
The incident led to the closure of two lanes of the Yellow Line, towards Barra da Tijuca. Furthermore, the reversible lane exclusively for passenger cars, implemented daily from 6am to 9am on the road, towards Fundão, was suspended due to police action.
According to the Rio Operations Center, traffic on the Yellow Line was released towards Barra at 8:14 am, minutes after the end of the police operation.
In a statement, the Civil Police reported that the case was registered at the 44th DP of Inhaúma, where it will be investigated. Nobody was injured.
