The balance of extended credit to the non-financial sector reached BRL 14.8 trillion in 2022, registering a growth of 8.5% in the year, compared to an increase of 13.9% in 2021. The value recorded in the month represents 150 .1% of the country’s GDP. The data were released this Friday (27), by the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB).
According to the Central Bank, this increase was mainly explained by the growth of loans from the national financial system (SFN), of 14.2%, and of public securities, which recorded a rise of 14.1%.
Extended credit to families reached 34.8% of GDP in 2022, reaching BRL 3.4 trillion. This represents an annual expansion of 16.7% in this type of credit. The growth in this type of modality reinforces the increase registered in the credit balance.
Credit to households also had an increase of 0.8% in December, as a result of expansion in financial sector loans, according to the Central Bank note.
