Extended role of the National Force in indigenous lands

Members of the National Security Force will remain for another 180 days in 14 indigenous territories, including the Yanomami land, in Roraima, and the Javari Valley, in Amazonas.

The information was confirmed by the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples, which this Thursday (16th) requested the Force to remain with the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.

The National Force has supported the actions of Funai (National Foundation for Indigenous Peoples) and SESAI (Special Secretariat for Indigenous Health).

In Vale do Javari, the National Force was authorized to act only until this Friday (17). In the Kawahiva Indigenous Lands of Rio Pardo and Piripkura, which are located in Mato Grosso, the ordinance expired on the last 5th. With the request, these two territories now have reinforced security until August.

In Yanomami land, the previous authorization was valid until mid-June, and now it will be valid until December.
