The extension of tax declarations until August 30 was announced by the Ministry of Finance. However, those taxpayers who decide to submit their return at the end of August will have to pay a double installment (July and August).
However, it is noted that the accountants had requested the extension of the declarations until the end of September.
Despite the fact that this year the electronic platform for submitting personal income tax returns started operating from March 30, 2022 and until yesterday 81% of tax returns had been submitted, this time extension was deemed necessary due to the special circumstances that prevail, in order to facilitate taxpaying citizens, accountants and tax professionals by exhausting any time frame for extension.
The Minister of Finance, Mr. Christos Staikouras and the Deputy Minister of Tax Policy and Public Property, Mr. Apostolos Vesyropoulos made the following statement:
“The Government, being fully aware of the difficulties faced by citizens and the increased workload of accountants and tax experts recently, due to the energy crisis which requires the submission of applications to various electronic aid platforms, but also due to the pandemic which leads to delays in the work of citizens and accountants who are ill, proceeds to extend the deadline for submitting tax returns until August 30. This is the last extension given so that everyone can complete the process of submitting returns and be consistent with their obligations.”
