A giant dust wall, known meteorologically as Haboob, covered parts of the Phoenix metropolitan area on Monday night 25/8, causing almost zero visibility in the city, damage, extensive power outages and leaving behind fallen trees. After the dust, serious thunderstorms that hit the city were quickly followed, including Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, where a bridge was destroyed by winds of 70 miles per hour. Warnings for both dust and severe thunderstorms were issued by the National Meteorological Service in Phoenix, as the system arrived in Marikopa County on Monday night. The Meteorological Service warned drivers for visibility almost zero and urged people to “make it aside and stay alive”.
