South Korean sources say the Galaxy S22 lineup will use the new Snapdragon 898 SoC more heavily than the next-generation Exynos mobile platform with AMD GPUs.
Many sources agree that the next-generation flagship of the South Korean tech giant will be powered by AMD-based Snapdragon 898 and Exynos 2200 SoCs in different regions of the world. However, it is the Snapdragon 898-based version that will be available in most countries.
The source suggests that the reason is not at all in the performance of the latest Exynos processor, but in the still high percentage of defects and other problems that surface during the transition to mass production.
According to previously published information, the Exynos 2200 outperforms the Snapdragon 898 in CPU and GPU performance. It is also claimed that the Exynos 2200 will be faster than the Apple A15 in the graphics test, but the Apple A15’s CPU will be the fastest of the three new SoCs.
The Exynos 2200 CPU should use a new generation three-cluster architecture. The mobile platform will receive a Cortex-X1 super-core, three Cortex-A78 cores and four small Cortex-A55 cores.
Previously, Snapdragon-based Samsung flagships were faster than Exynos variants. In the new generation, the situation may change.
