F. Kalafatis: Greece on a dynamic trajectory with the funds of 70 billion euros from the Recovery Fund and the NSRF

“Greece is changing speed” and the funds of 70 billion euros that will flow by 2027 through the Recovery Fund and the new NSRF, enable the strengthening of the economy and prove the strong and resilient position of our country, underlined the Deputy Minister of Interior (Macedonia-Thrace sector), Stavros Kalafatis, speaking from the podium of the conference held in Thessaloniki, the online newspaper voria.gr.

Of the total of 70 billion euros, as he clarified, 32 billion will be absorbed by the Recovery Fund (through grants and loans) and the remaining 38 billion will be given through actions of the Common Agricultural Policy and the medium-term development program. for the period up to 2027.

Stressing that in terms of absorption of NSRF funds, Greece climbed from 19th to first place, Mr. Kalafatis referred to the moves of the government, saying that “the state exhausts every available euro without causing shocks in the economy. In the period of the pandemic “43 billion euros were channeled to support the productive fabric and households, while about 8 billion euros are spent on relieving citizens from energy price increases.”

Among other things, emphasizing that in August the country is coming out of the enhanced EU surveillance, unemployment is decreasing, investments are increasing and tourism is recording, with the record revenues so far, Mr. Kalafatis noted that the government is next to entrepreneurship.

Resources for the Region of Central Macedonia at 1.4 billion euros

The resources that the Region of Central Macedonia (PKM) will have in its quiver through the financial instruments of the NSRF and the Recovery Fund amount to 1.4 billion euros, noted the regional governor, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, during his speech at the meeting, saying that “Macedonia of 2030 will be modern, green and human, that is our goal”.

With the new funds, as he clarified, “not only will we be given the opportunity to do important projects in all sectors and infrastructure of our region, but we will also continue the 8,500 small and medium-sized projects that we already have in progress.”

In this context, he stressed that “what is particularly important is how we will be able to prepare and successfully absorb the funds on time, because the EU has set rules, which are inviolable and non-negotiable.”

Referring to the projects that are being launched or are in progress in PKM, Mr. Tzitzikostas spoke, among other things, about the regeneration and creation of the new coastal front from Angelochori to Kalochori, at junction K16 on the ring road, on the ring road of Katerini. , on the roads of Halkidiki and Kilkis, in the film office and in his successful work with the Hollywood productions in Thessaloniki and other areas and in the construction of 40 new school units.

Among other things, he assured that PKM will fight for the best utilization of the resources of the new NSRF and the Recovery Fund and saying “we have a 7-year plan ready, but also the necessary knowledge”, Mr. Tzitzikostas noted that if “we receive from “The mandate of our fellow citizens, as in one year the local elections will take place, Macedonia of 2030 will be modern, green and human, that is our goal”.

Now there is an agenda for the city of Thessaloniki

The assurance that there is now an agenda for the city of Thessaloniki, was given from the podium of the conference by the competent mayor, Konstantinos Zervas, emphasizing that in the three years of his administration, funds amounting to 160 million euros have been secured, of which 40 million euros from the National Plan for Recovery and Sustainability Greece 2.0., the 57 million euros from the program “Antonis Tritsis” with five projects already included and another four pending, 35 million euros from the Green Fund – FILODIMOS – PDE, with 30 included projects and two under accession and 20 + 7 million euros, from a financial tool of the European Investment Bank, for the implementation of 30 projects.

Noting that throughout the previous period the technical program of the municipality of Thessaloniki amounted to about 20 million euros, Mr. Zervas announced that this year amounts to 36 million euros and said that the next one will be even bigger.

Speaking about how the 40 million euros of the Recovery Fund will be allocated, Mr. Zervas said that the 30 million euros will be directed to the urban revitalization and commercial reconstruction of roads important for the city and about 10 million to its conversion into smart city, with projects such as smart crossings and physical security system of buildings with optical sensors. Regarding the NSRF, the mayor of Thessaloniki pointed out that in the period 2014-2020, 33 projects amounting to 40 million euros were included and stressed that funding of 100 million euros is expected from the new programming period.

The goal is “to make Thessaloniki a city with infrastructure, smart, sustainable, clean, with economic activity, demographic recovery and geopolitical scope”, he underlined and praised the sincere and substantial cooperation that finally exists between the state and the local government. “Only through synergy and sympathy can we tackle successive external crises, health, economic and energy,” he said.

“We started to paint a picture of a Thessaloniki in 2030, but in order for this to happen, someone financed and absorbed the European projects and it was none other than the Region of Central Macedonia,” said Voula Patoulidou, the Deputy Regional Head of the Metropolitan Unit of Thessaloniki.
