FAB and MG police investigate plane crash that killed Marília Mendonça

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) announced, last Friday (05), that it has opened investigations to identify the reasons for the crash of the plane that killed singer Marília Mendonça.

According to FAB, members of the Third Regional Service for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (SERIPA 3), located in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), were called to identify whether there was a mechanical or human failure in the aircraft crash.

During the investigation, the experts gather documents, remove parts of the aircraft and listen to any witnesses to understand the reasons for the accident. “There is no scheduled time for this activity to occur, always depending on the complexity of the occurrence,” said the FAB in a statement.

The Civil Police of Minas Gerais deployed teams of criminal expertise, investigators and delegates to the scene of the facts, where they carry out the first surveys on the spot.

During the work, the police identified five bodies on the plane, three of which were dead, including the singer’s, and two of the bodies are already being sent to Caratinga, where coroners and autopsy assistants are waiting for examinations.
