FAB establishes standards for transporting rescued domestic animals in RS

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has established an operational standard for transporting domestic animals rescued from the floods in Rio Grande do Sul, caused by the rains that have hit the state since the end of April.

According to the protocol, in order for the safety and well-being of the animals to be guaranteed, some requirements must be followed and observed, such as the existence of an identification chip and medal, a health certificate issued by a veterinarian, identification of the responsible body at the destination and registration on the official platform of the state government of Rio Grande do Sul.

These measures apply to land and air modes, in addition to the condition of “individual” or “collective” transport, according to the FAB. Regarding the boarding of groups of animals on FAB aircraft, the Secretariat of the Environment of Rio Grande do Sul (SEMA-RS) defined that the movement will be with the presence of veterinarians indicated by the department.

The guardian who accompanies his own pet must follow the specific measures in the document. Furthermore, due to the large number of animals in shelters, tracking pets is essential.

The standards were established by the Joint Command of Operation Taquari 2 with the Secretariat of the Environment of Rio Grande do Sul (SEMA-RS) this Thursday (6).
