FAB intercepts clandestine plane coming from Bolivia to Brazil

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) intercepted this Wednesday (10) a clandestine aircraft that was making a flight from Bolivia to Brazil. The interception took place in Rondônia.

The clandestine plane, an EMB-810D Seneca twin-engine turboprop with registration number PT-RQY, was detected by the Brazilian Air Defense System radar system as illicit traffic.

At around 1:30 pm, FAB aircraft intercepted and issued an order to change route and make a mandatory landing at Cacoal airport (RO). After the pilot refused to comply with instructions, warning shots were fired.

The clandestine plane then made a forced landing in a difficult-to-access area near the municipality of Rondolândia, in Mato Grosso. According to witnesses, the people on board the equipment set fire to the aircraft and fled.

FAB's action is part of Operation Ostium, linked to the Integrated Border Protection Program (PPIF), whose main objective is to combat illicit activities in border regions.
