The digital influencer Fabiana Justus 37, shared another stage of his leukemia treatment , diagnosed at the beginning of the year. This Wednesday (26), she celebrated having been cleared to take vaccines after the bone marrow transplant, carried out in March.
“I’m going to start taking the vaccine today. I’m very happy, I got ready, I put on some makeup, I put on a little outfit because I’m really excited,” she celebrated.
Due to cancer and transplantation, Fabiana Justus falls into the immunosuppressed category. According to infectious disease doctor Álvaro Furtado, from the Hospital das Clínicas of the University of São Paulo (USP), immunosuppressed people have a more fragile immune system compared to the general population.
This is why people with immunosuppression are a priority in vaccination campaigns.
According to Roberto Justus’ daughter, this moment is of special importance. “Ever since I had the transplant, I knew I would have to be revaccinated. Starting to take vaccines symbolizes so much, I don’t even know how to explain it. Speechless,” she added.
Fabiana also took the opportunity to explain to her followers why she had to be revaccinated.
“If I take the marrow from the donor, why don’t the antibodies come with it? They [médicas] They said that it even comes a little, but as I take a lot of immunosuppressants post-transplant, precisely so that new marrow doesn’t fight with the body, my immunity ends up being low, and then it’s not enough to protect”, he said.
“I now start with 90 days, then one more and the vast majority after six months. There’s a whole calendar, but just starting I’m already very happy”, he concluded.
