FAB’s next flight to repatriate Brazilians should leave RJ on Monday (16)

The next flight to the Middle East to repatriate Brazilians who are in the conflict zone between Israel and Hamas is scheduled to take off on Monday (16), from Galeão airport, in Rio de Janeiro, at around 5 pm, according to reports. The CNN with the Brazilian Air Forces (FAB).

The aircraft will stop in Rome and from there it will continue to Tel Aviv, a route that has been used throughout the operation, named by the federal government as “Returning in Peace”.

The eighth flight sent by the government to bring Brazilians from the conflict zone will begin the second phase of the operation.

According to Itamaraty, the aircraft is expected to return next Wednesday (18). The flight should arrive in Brazil on Thursday (19).

  • First flight: 211 passengers, landed on Wednesday (11);
  • Second flight: 214 passengers and 4 pets (1 dog and 3 cats), landed on Thursday (12);
  • Third flight: 69 passengers, landed on Friday (13);
  • Fourth flight: 207 passengers and 4 pets (2 dogs and 2 cats), landed on Saturday (14);
  • Fifth flight: 215 passengers and 16 pets, landed on Sunday (15).

There is a VC-2 model aircraft, made available by the Presidency of the Republic, awaiting authorization to go to Egypt to rescue Brazilians who are in the Gaza Strip.

Another KC-30 plane took off with its initial destination of Rome, Italy, this Saturday (14), being the seventh vehicle used in the Brazilian repatriation operation.

The FAB crew has been working practically without rest, with six-hour breaks. More than 2,700 Brazilians in the region asked to be repatriated amid the Israeli war.

Brazilians await authorization to leave the Gaza Strip

The 22 Brazilians who are in the Gaza Strip and wish to be repatriated are on the enclave’s border with Egypt, as confirmed by Pedro Teixeira, from CNN, with a member of the group.

The Brazilians managed to board the bus chartered by the Brazilian government this Saturday morning (14) and first went to the city of Khan Yunis, about 10 km from Rafah

There are 10 Brazilians who were sheltering in a school awaiting transportation, joining another 12 who had already been rescued to the south of the region. They must board the VC-2 aircraft, made available by the Presidency of the Republic.

Another nine who were also at school in the northern region reported that they did not wish to be repatriated and said they preferred to remain in Gaza.
