Facebook did not pay a fine of 310,000 Euros for content banned by Russian courts

As stated by the press service of the district court Taganka in Moscow and broadcasts the news agency TASS, the Magistrates’ Court No. 422 had, since 25 May, imposed administrative fines on Facebook Inc. for eight civil offenses, which were not paid voluntarily, therefore “orders were sent to the service of bailiffs to enforce the judgments that have entered into force”.

Earlier it was reported that the Facebook had applied for and received a deferral of payment of the fine until 4 October by the same Magistrates’ Court.

Since the beginning of the year Russian courts have imposed on Facebook Inc. fines of 49 million rubles (approximately 590,000 euros), as well as on a number of other social media sites, for posting and refusing to withdraw publications, which have been banned by Russian courts under administrative protocols of the State Telecommunications Regulatory Authority Roskomnadzor.

Other offenses include inciting minors to take part in public protests that have not been legally licensed by local authorities, or failing to delete content related to suicide incitement, drug use, child pornography, and refusing to keep user records. Russians citizens, on Russian territory.
