The world’s largest social networking site, Facebook, which recently changed its name to Meta, announced a relaxation of its rules for placing ads related to cryptocurrencies.
In 2018, Facebook imposed restrictions on companies advertising cryptocurrencies. Such advertisements could be placed by firms that received one of three types of licenses. Now the number of license types has been increased to 27.
“We are changing our policies as the cryptocurrency industry continues to mature and stabilize. In recent years, we have seen an increase in the regulation of the sphere, the emergence of clearer rules for the industry, ”the social network said in a statement.
Former Facebook employee Henry Love emphasized that this is a very important change for the cryptocurrency industry. More social media ads will attract new users and new capital to the digital asset space.
“Cryptocurrency companies will be able to operate more openly and transparently, which will lead to faster adoption of digital currencies and the metaverse. This is a dramatic change for the entire industry, ”said Love.
In October, Facebook announced the testing of the Novi cryptocurrency wallet in conjunction with the Coinbase exchange, but US senators once again demanded that testing be stopped.
