The Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, said this Tuesday (5) to CNN that, after the resignations to command positions at Petrobras, the moment for new appointments requires “a lot of prudence, responsibility and skill”.
According to the minister, he has not yet talked to President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) about other names since economist Adriano Pires, to preside over Petrobras, and Rodolfo Landim, to preside over the company’s Board of Directors, declined to recommendation.
“I still haven’t come up with names to present to the president. I am working on suitable profiles to take over the company at this point, then I will get to the names that fill those profiles,” he said.
The internal assessment is that the government cannot take the risk of making new appointments that are prevented from taking office.
“We are evaluating, with the responsibility that the situation requires, other names for the presidency of the Board and the company. As you know, Landim and Adriano’s decision to decline the invitation took place in the last two days,” he stated.
After Landim and Pires left the list of nominees, government officials began to suggest more homemade solutions, such as promoting a director from Petrobras itself or a secretary from Minister Paulo Guedes’ team.
The indication of a name that has already passed through the sieve of the control bodies would reduce, or practically eliminate, the chances of disapproval.
