The president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Minister Edson Fachin, authorized this Tuesday (16th) the federal government to broadcast the campaign on monkeypox prevention.
In the decision, when analyzing a request from the Ministry of Communications, the minister recalls that the placement of institutional advertising by public agents is prohibited in the three months before the elections, but there are exceptions.
“It appears that the dissemination of the aforementioned campaign is in the public interest, insofar as it ensures the right to information and individual and collective health,” he said.
“With regard to urgency, it is observed that the absence of guidance and encouragement to the population on measures to prevent and spread monkeypox can undermine the initiative and make it difficult to prevent and control the disease,” he added.
The minister also determined that the website that will be used with information on the subject must be exclusive to the monkeypox prevention campaign.
The advertisement may be aired from August 12, 2022 to August 30, 2022, only allowing the identification of the Ministry of Health, the body responsible for the campaign.
Last week, Edson Fachin, vetoed the pronouncement of the Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, in a radio and TV chain about the launch of the National Vaccination Campaign against Poliomyelitis and Multivaccination of 2022.
In the decision, Fachin stated that the principle of impersonality “disallows the personification of programs of the federal public administration”, especially in the period before the elections.
