The federal government is going to announce that to open new facility to accommodate underage immigrants at southwestern US border, said yesterday the representative of the White House Jen Psaki.
“We have announced the opening of new facilities, we will announce more in the coming days and weeks, places where children will have access to health services, education and even legal services,” he said in an interview with CNN.
Earlier, Psaki said Washington would ask from the authorities of Mexico and Guatemala to help stop migration flows, as President Joe Biden’s government struggles to contain a humanitarian crisis on its borders.
President Biden has sent envoys to the two countries for talks on how to manage the growing number of migrants heading to the border. When asked if the US delegation would seek the support of local officials, Psaki replied that “We need to work with these countries to tackle the root causesAs well as “to convey clearly the message that now is not the time to travel.”
