Factory orders fall 1.9% in December, their first decline in eight months

Factory orders fell 1.9% monthly in Germany during the month of December, worsening the expected 1% decline. The indicator thus breaks a streak of seven consecutive months of rises. In November, orders grew 2.7% (figure revised up from 2.3%).

To level y-o-y, the indicator grew 6.4% in December, exceeding the estimated 4.1%, but below the 6.7% increase in November (revised up from 6.3%). This is the third consecutive month of increases for orders.
