SatoshiLabs, which makes Trezor hardware wallets, has reported a fake Trezor Mobile Manager Wallet app for Android that has appeared on Google Play.
IN message on Twitter, the company warned that the app has nothing to do with Trezor or SatoshiLabs:
“This is a malicious application, do not install it! Remember that you do not have to type your passphrase from the wallet until the device itself asks for it! ”
However, the application remains available in the Google Play store. Judging by the statistics on the application page, more than 1,000 people have downloaded it. It also collected over 200 reviews, most of which warn of fraud. But there are also purchased positive reviews.
Also, the manufacturer Trezor has published instructions for working with their hardware wallets on Android devices using third-party applications such as Mycelium, Sentinetl and Walleth.
In early December 2020, CipherTrace warned of a noticeable increase in fraud cases using extensions for Google Chrome masquerading as the MetaMask browser wallet.
