Fall in prices of basic agricultural products up to 43%

Wholesale prices for basic agricultural products are falling, according to data provided by the Athens Central Market. These are primary consumption products on the table of both households and restaurants and hotels throughout the country, such as lettuce, tomatoes, lemons, etc.

More specifically, the price of lettuces has fallen by up to 43%, as according to the data this year in August they are sold wholesale from 0.35 to 0.40 euros per kilo, when in August 2021 they were sold for 0.70 euros. The red and green lollies, which are sold today from 0.40 to 0.45 euros per kilo, have shown a corresponding decrease, when last year at this time they were from 0.70 to 0.75 euros per kilo. A reduction of up to 40%.

It is worth noting that at these prices the basic agricultural products are supplied not only to the large urban centers, but also to the islands and tourist destinations during this period. The price of tomatoes, which are now sold wholesale from 0.70 to 1.10 euros, is also falling, when last year in August they were sold for 1.30 euros per kilo.

In the case of lemons, the drop in the wholesale price is -31%, as these days one can get them from 0.95 to 1.10 euros, when in the corresponding period last year they were bought from 1.50 to 1.60 euros per kg.
