Family discovers camera on bathroom ceiling after four years living in the property in Praia Grande

A family discovered a hidden camera in the ceiling of the bathroom of the apartment they have lived in for four years in Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo. The incident occurred on the evening of last Saturday (21), when one of the residents went to change a light bulb and discovered the spy camera.

According to resident Angelica Bitu do Carmo, she, her husband and their one-year-old son live in the property.

In videos published on social media, Angelica says she believes in the innocence of the property owner and will not sue her or seek compensation.

“I’m not going to ask for compensation and I’m not going to file a lawsuit against the owner for the simple fact that she had nothing to do with this. We talked and there’s no reason to do this to her. If I were to blame someone, I would like to blame the person who installed the camera.”

The couple filed a police report and are awaiting investigation. They believe the camera was installed by a previous tenant.

Meanwhile, Angelica says that the desire to move out of the apartment is growing stronger every day.

“The rent here in Praia Grande is extremely expensive. There’s no way we can leave at any moment. We work, it’s like the proletariat. So it’s really hard to have to stay in a place that’s bringing up so many bad thoughts, but we’re getting by and as soon as possible we’ll move out,” she explained in response to a follower.

Understand the case

On Saturday night (21), Angelica’s husband went to change the burned-out light bulb in the apartment’s bathroom and the new bulb wouldn’t screw into the socket. Since it was already late, he decided he would solve the problem the next day and make a temporary direct connection so the couple could take a shower. When the man dismantled the lighting structure, he saw the camera hidden in the ceiling.

After informing his wife, the couple called the building’s building manager and filed an electronic police report.

According to Angelica, the camera was powered by a socket in the ceiling, installed together with the device. The spy camera filmed through a very small hole in the light structure. Watch the video.

Later, the couple tried to connect the object to a computer to see if it had any recorded content, but they were unsuccessful.
