After 16 years of living every parent’s worst nightmare, a couple managed to find their missing son due to a folder of information that came to them anonymously.
It was 16 years of agony and uncertainty
On December 13, 2005, Rosalía López, then 22 years old, gave birth to her baby in a public hospital. Until then, all good. At a certain point, a nurse approached her to ask if she had already taken her medications and an hour later they told her partner and father of the baby, Yasir Macías, that the time allowed for visits had already ended and she had to leave.
When a woman who presented herself as a pediatric assistant told Rosalía that she had to take her little one to do a series of studies, she did not think twice and agreed. She had no idea that it would be the last time she would see her baby.

Although they filed the proper complaint, the necessary follow-up was not given and the case was practically stalled for years. However, they say that hope is the last thing that dies and Rosalía and Yasir never gave up and hoped to be reunited with their little one, whom they named Chavita.
They had a single photo of Chavita and they used it for a specialist to make a digital and animated projection of what their son could look like today, who is already a full-fledged teenager. This image was key to finding him.

Rosalía and Yasir received, anonymously, a folder full of information about a young man who was suspected of being Chavita and who lived in a nearby municipality. They contacted the corresponding authorities and managed to locate him in good condition. It seems that he was given a good life and suffered no mistreatment. By doing genetic tests, the dream of the lucky parents was fulfilled: they had found his son!
When it was confirmed that it was indeed Chavita, Yasir and Rosalía met with their son. However, the approach will be gradual and carefully, as it must be a great shock for the young. Still, it’s great news for everyone involved, as a family managed to reunite against all odds.
