Family of Brazilian killed in Ireland makes crowdfunding online to bring body to the country

The family of Brazilian Bruna Fonseca, murdered in Cork, Ireland, opened a crowdfunding to raise money to bring the young woman’s body to Brazil.

The goal of 30,000 euros – around R$ 172,000 at current exchange rates – was exceeded in less than six hours.

So far, 2,100 people have donated €36,703 through the “Go Fund Me” website and shared their condolences to the family.

Two Irish institutions stood out as the main donors: BMG Property Management, a property management agency based in Cork, which donated 1,000 euros, and Andy New Angel Cleaning, a company that provides cleaning services in the city, which contributed with 200 euros.

On Instagram, internet users also sympathized with the death of the young woman from Formiga, in the interior of Minas Gerais.

A friend wrote in the comments of one of Bruna’s photos that she had recently asked Miller Pacheco, her ex-boyfriend and suspect in her murder, to leave her alone.

Bruna’s sister, Izabel Fonseca, who spoke with CNN said that the city of Formiga was ready to take Bruna’s body to her hometown as soon as he arrived in Brazil.

Bruna worked as a cleaner at Mercy University Hospital Cork and had a degree in library science from Unifor-MG. She had been living in Ireland since September of last year when she went on an exchange program.

Miller Pacheco, 29, left for Cork in November 2022 when the two were still dating. He is the main suspect in Bruna’s murder.

This Monday (02) the District Court of Cork decided to keep Miller in custody until next Monday (09) when he must appear again in Court.
