The family of the kidnapped children, including a 10-month-old baby, who may have died at the hands of Hamas, planned to seek the interference of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to try to free them.
This Wednesday (29), the radical group reported that 10-month-old Kfir Bibas, his 4-year-old brother, Ariel, and their mother, Shiri, were killed in an Israeli airstrike. Israel is investigating the allegation, which has not been confirmed.
A CNN spoke this morning with Jimmy Miller, uncle of the children’s mother. He had scheduled an interview with the channel, before being informed about the possibility that his niece and children were dead.
His objective was to appeal to the president to intercede with the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, for the release of his relatives.
He speaks Portuguese and has family here. Lula is already in Qatar to meet with the country’s authorities, who mediate all negotiations involving the hostages.
Miller was very concerned about the children’s health – whether they were eating, taking medicine, taking vitamins, whether they had been separated from their mother.
He further reported that they had been kidnapped in one of the kibbutzim attacked by Hamas.
According to him, Hamas had informed Israel that it had handed over his relatives to another extremist group and was unable to find them.
Miller was very distressed, he recorded a video and wanted to give an interview, appealing to Lula and also to the football player Neymar to intercede.
With the news of the alleged death of the babies and his niece, he and the other family members, for now, preferred not to give interviews.
