On the morning of Monday 25 June he strangled, probably with a small rope, his mother Luisa Marconi, 70 years old, and hit his father Giuseppe Ricci, 75 years old, with a hammer. He would have done it, according to what he admitted before the prosecutor Maria Letizia Fucci and the Flying Squad, because his parents did not want to give him any more money. They had already lost the house, sold at auction, to pay off the debts of the 50-year-old, separated father of two children. Ricci allegedly argued with his mother over an alleged request for more money, in addition to the 60 thousand euros accumulated for a craft business that went wrong. He allegedly strangled her in the kitchen after getting no for an answer. The father was instead in the bedroom and was killed there without being able to react. It all happened in the middle of the night when the man went down to test the mother’s blood pressure.

The investigators worked to reconstruct what Ricci did in the last hours before the double murder. The two-storey house in Via Fanella where the murder took place was checked by forensic experts like the man’s telephone, to reconstruct his movements. After the double murder he threw the hammer into a well in the garden and went back to sleep upstairs where his 17-year-old son was. After accompanying him to school in Pesaro for remedial courses, he returned to Fano and called 112. “My parents don’t answer and the door is closed.” The firefighters opened the door and found them dead.

The investigators immediately examined the position of the son who collapsed in the night after hours of interrogation. “I realized that I did it,” he told the head of Mobile and the magistrate. Luca Ricci and was taken to prison in Villa Fastiggi on charges of voluntary multiple murder of his parents and the aggravating circumstance of cruelty was also recognized.
