The actor and presenter Rodrigo Faro said, in an interview with CNN who felt fear and insecurity when accepting the role in “Silvio ” and play Silvio Santos. The film hits theaters this Thursday (12).
“At our first meeting, I came to him [Marcelo Antunez, diretor] and I said, ‘Dude, I am insecure and scared. It is a huge responsibility . I don’t know if I want to do it. I have a lot of problems. I read the text and I think it’s going to be difficult to do Silvio’s voice. It’s not going to work.’ But then he came and turned to me: ‘This is what I need,'” he said.
“This understanding of the challenge, because when you have an actor who thinks the game is already won, we have a serious problem. When he showed the concern he had and the understanding of character’s difficulty, I said: “Okay, now we’re fine”, added Marcelo.
Faro revealed that he was apprehensive about taking on the challenge and that, initially, he did not want to participate in the film, but a conversation with the founder of SBT gave him the confidence to play him in the cinema.
“I really thought I couldn’t accept it because it’s so difficult. It’s so complicated to play this role. I got home and said, ‘Honey, [Vera Viel]they called me to play Silvio Santos in the movies’. And she said: ‘So what?’. I replied: ‘So I’ll continue my program and everything will be fine’. But she said: ‘He likes you so much. You were with him at the Troféu Imprensa. Why don’t you talk to him?’”, she said in a press conference last Wednesday (4).
“I sent a message to SBT’s press office and the next day I received a reply that Silvio would meet me in the dressing room. He questioned my visit, and I told him that I had been called to do the film. He started asking questions and talking about his life. Those 30 minutes I was there… was the biggest laboratory I did in this whole film. . While he was cooking, I observed every detail, prosody, punctuation, posture,” he said.
Faro recalled that the presenter invited him to participate in the Silvio Santos Program on that date, which was December 23, 2018, and said that it would be an honor to be played by him.
“That gave me security . I said: ‘Well, he likes the idea. And if he likes the idea, I’ll make that film for him and for him, and while he’s alive.’ It’s going to be an artist who will be honored while he’s alive… but God didn’t want it. This premiere was already scheduled last year for September 12th and God wanted to write another story. The honor is for him and the moments, his gaze for me, remain,” he continued.

The plot mixes fiction with facts. Starting with the kidnapping of Silvio Santos in 2001, the beginnings of Senor Abravanel’s career, from street vendor to the founding of SBT, are told.
In addition to Faro, two other actors play the presenter, but in other stages of his life: Vinicius Ricci and Felipe Castro . Names like Johnas Oliveira , Polliana Aleixo , Majorie Gerardi and Paul Weevil are also in the cast.
The direction is by Marcelo Antunez, known for his work in “Federal Police: The Law is for Everyone” (2017) and “Rodeo Rock” (2023)
