The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia has officially confirmed that it is opening a case against Apple, which is abusing its position in the market and does not allow developers to post links to alternative payment systems outside the App Store.
Let’s remind, before September 30, Apple had to stop abuse in the market. It is about preventing developers from informing customers inside the application about the possibility of paying for purchases outside the App Store. If Apple is found to be in violation of the Competition Law, it could face a turnover penalty on the amount of market revenue.

In August 2021, Apple entered into a settlement with US app developers who filed a class action lawsuit over the same issue. As part of the settlement, developers will be able to promote the use of third-party payment platforms from which Apple does not receive any royalties.
The decision should take effect on December 9, but Apple has found a way to delay the implementation of the unfavorable order for the company for years.
