Mid season: that is that door of our wardrobe which in this period is filled with contrasting garments. This time we are talking about real opposites that, magically, all find themselves in the same spaces. Bikinis together with down jackets (ultralight model), linen dress and wool sweater, sandals and boots with treaded soles. Incredible combos that come to life in an indefinite space-time interval that begins in mid-September (and does not have a precise end date, other than the one that will dictate the weather).
Thanks to the variable temperatures, the shops that begin to set up the windows with the new collections but above all our summer suitcases that have not yet been completely sorted. And it is precisely in this confusion of style and opportunity that the question resounds in our heads: “And now, how do I dress?»After all, mid-season is also synonymous with stand-by, that moment of stoppage in which we struggle to leave the much-loved summer purchases but at the same time we begin to become familiar with the new trends (we already talked about it a little while ago).
Now, however, we are at the next step. That is, we have to get dressed.
This is why we have thought about this vademecum (ironic, if it wasn’t clear enough) to catapult us into this new seasonal dimension, nicknamed “la mezzo”.
– FORWARD ALL, CREATIVITY!
Think about it: even if they call it mid-season in reality it is the only time of the year in which, of seasons, you have no less than 4! Fresh dresses and heavy sweaters, jackets of all kinds, sandals and boots. This moment to think about it is the best for fashion lovers: make the most of it and show off your art of styling.
– LET’S GET DRESSED IN ONION
Said so it is not very fashionable, but it is the basis taught by grandmothers and handed down from generation to generation. In the morning it is hot and in the evening it is cool, the layered dressing is really the only salvation. There Celine Fall / Winter 2021-22 fashion show confirms that it is an ever-current trend, just look at this release: sweatshirt + denim jacket + flannel shirt.
– LEGS BARE TO THE EXTENT
Our colleagues across the Channel and overseas have always done it and even in the middle of winter with temperatures that go below zero, we with the mildest Mediterranean climate have no excuses. We will certainly not risk freezing if we venture out onto the streets without pantyhose in the fall (at least try it as long as the tan will resist).
– SANDALS, BOOTS & CO.
We come to the topic of shoes. The shoe rack is there, in front of us and today we can wear the model we want, without discrimination of the season! We like the minimal sandals with straps with the longuette (or shorts like Leandra Medine does) and the high-neck pullover.
Knee boots? In the Seventies version with the midi dress, or the Sixties with a minidress from the line to A. Zoccoli & Co., on the other hand, we promote them with the socks (ok, we know: not everyone will understand, but it doesn’t matter!).
– THE POWER OF CASHMERE
Did you know that this fiber has thermoregulatory properties? It manages to keep the body at a constant temperature. Green light to sweaters of every shape and color (and socks, see previous point)!
– HIS MAJESTY, THE VEST
A trend that has continued undaunted since last year, perfect for this period. A multitasking garment that fits, but not too much. Chriselle Lim’s look, photographed during New York Fashion Week, is inspiring.

– THE ONLY RULE IS TO HAVE NO RULE
A motto (inspired by Fight Club) which is also the creed of the Mix & Match addicted. One of all? Sarah Jessica, who never disappoints us with her past and present looks!
