According to Szpilman, the animal signed is not the same as the previous occurrence. “This other shark is of a species called Mako. It is an ocean shark that occasionally approaches the coast to feed, taking opportunities such as cards near the beach,” he explained.

“Mako is from the same family as white shark, but there are no records of such species attacks on our coast,” added Szpilman.

Experts reinforce that sightings like this are no reason for panic, but for awareness of the natural presence of these animals in coastal ecosystems.
