A man and his daughter were shot dead last Saturday night (11) in Miracatu, in the interior of São Paulo. According to police, an ex-boyfriend of the young woman broke into the family home and committed the murders.
According to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat, Xavier Marques de Queiroz, who was a public servant, and his daughter, identified as Yasmim, were found dead.
The victims' mother and wife, who witnessed the incident, told police that her daughter's ex-boyfriend, aged 29, gained access to the house after damaging the kitchen door.
The ministry adds that, shortly after committing the crime, the suspect fled the scene. He was located and arrested in the early hours of this Monday (13) at Sítio Oliveira, in Miracatu, and taken to the Public Registry Prison.
Xavier was a machine operator at Miracatu City Hall. On social media, the city administration lamented what happened.
“The Municipality of Miracatu expresses its deepest regret for the death of server Xavier Marques de Queiroz, which occurred on the night of this past Saturday, May 11th. We are touched by the departure of this dear servant and wish our most sincere condolences to his family, relatives and friends”, wrote the city hall.
Xavier and Yasmim were veiled this Sunday (12) at the Miracatu City Hall. The burial of the victims took place on Monday morning (13).
The case was registered as feminicide, failure to comply with an urgent protective measure and homicide.
