A 27-year-old man was arrested on Monday (17) after beating a 7-month-old baby to death in Juiz de Fora, in the interior of Minas Gerais. The suspect is the child’s father. According to the police, he confessed to the crime.
According to delegate Camila Miller, after the attacks suffered, the boy, now lifeless, was taken to the Children’s Emergency Room at the Therezinha de Jesus Hospital and Maternity Hospital. The medical team still performed resuscitation procedures on the child, but he no longer showed vital signs. The team then confirmed the death.
In a statement, the Civil Police of Minas de Gerais reported that the baby’s mother was taken to a police station in the municipality and gave a statement. At first, the newborn’s parents claimed that he had suffered a fall while bathing, but an expert report found that the injuries were incompatible.
The man was arrested in the act. The case is investigated by the Minas Gerais Specialized Homicide Investigation Police Station.
