A father in Ecuador decided to do gender change in the official documents in order to claim it custody of children of his ex-wife, with whom they separated episodically.
The 47-year-old René Salinas Ramos speaking to the media of his hometown, he publicized the incident, claiming that he was outraged, because he has not seen his children for about five months.
“Being a father in this country, Ecuador, is punished and I am only seen as a provider. What I was looking for is to give the love and protection that a mother can give to her children”, he characteristically said, based on nypost.com.
In fact, he claimed that the ex-wife has “poisoned” the minds of his daughters and that they live in an “abusive environment”. However, he stated that in official documents it may indicate a womanin his personal life, however, he declares to be male and heterosexual.
So his actions have caused a serious stir reactions to LGBT organizations of the country, which state that the man takes advantage of the legislation -and laws concerning sensitive issues-, so as to have personal benefit.
Characteristically, the transgender activist Diane Rodriguez stated that “this man’s private matter, obtaining custody of his daughters, is not the spirit of the law.”
So far though, René Salinas Ramos he has not achieved his goalsince the children remain with their mother, but he told the channels that he will continue to try to get custody.
