A father from Russia was arrested for the “murder of a pedophile”, who allegedly raped his daughter when she was 8 years old.
The alleged as pedophile Oleg Sviridov, 32, had on his cell phone a video of several children being abused in the village of Vintai in Russia’s Samara region, according to officials quoted by the Daily Mail.
Vyacheslav M., a 34-year-old father, was drinking with his friend Sviridov when he saw the pictures on his cell phone, which allegedly recorded rape of his daughter, who is now 9 years old.
The father immediately confronted Sviridov, who ran away before Vyacheslav had time to react, the report said. The “pedophile” was a close friend of Vyacheslav’s family and sometimes held his daughter, whom he had sexually abused several times.
Vyacheslav reported the rapes to the local police and started a manhunt. However, the father managed to locate him first and stabbed him to death.
Vyacheslav later told police that Sviridov had “stumbled on the knife during an altercation” in a forest near the village, claiming he did not kill him deliberately.
The body of the alleged pedophile was found near the village on Thursday, more than a week after Vyacheslav had seen the video of the abuse.
Vyacheslav was arrested after the body was found and the investigation into the case is ongoing.
The police investigation into the sexual abuse of three children that was recorded with Sviridov’s mobile phone is also in progress. Sources from the police say that the dead man’s phone included videos of violent rapes of other girls in the village, aged 6 and 11. He allegedly abused little girls for five years before Vyacheslav spotted the horrible content on his cell phone.
Vintai villagers and social media commentators are urging Vyacheslav not to face murder charges. “He is not a murderer – he protected his daughter and our children,” said one resident, adding: “Everyone is on his side.”
