Father, mother, children and nephew die in car accident in Bahia

Five people from the same family died after the car they were in collided with a trailer on the BR-116, near the municipality of Milagres, in Bahia. The accident occurred on Wednesday night (17), at around 8:30 pm.

The victims were Flávio Costa Silva, aged 41, his wife Eunice Ribeiro de Jesus Costa, aged 45, his nephew Gabriel Pereira Silva Trevizolo, aged 16, and his children Bernardo Flavio Ribeiro Costa, aged 7, and Flávia Ribeiro Costa, aged 9. The driver of the truck was not injured.

Flávio was a driver for Jequié City Hall. In a note published on social media, the city hall described the professional as dedicated, ethical and exemplary in driving vehicles. An event to inaugurate the city's new public squares, which was scheduled for 6pm this Thursday (18), was postponed out of respect for the family.

Gabriel's death was mourned by the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Bahia (IFBA), where he took a technical course in electromechanics. The institution also declared three days of official mourning.

“In his time at IFBA Jequié, Gabriel left an indelible mark, and his absence will be deeply felt by everyone who had the opportunity to share his academic journey,” wrote the institute.

According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), a procedure was opened to investigate the causes of the accident, which will be investigated by the PRF and the Technical Police Department of the Civil Police.
