Leading US epidemiologist Dr. Anthony Fauci has warned that humanity may never be able to eradicate the coronavirus as vaccine programs have not even come close to the levels needed to eradicate the disease.
He has said that cases in the US should fall to 10,000 from the current 80,000 – an unacceptable level, he noted.
“I do not think we will eradicate him,” he told CBS News in an interview.
“In this context we have to look at control … we do not want to have 70 to 80,000 [κρούσματα]. “I have said empirically that I want to see them fall below 10,000, but even lower,” he said, adding: “Because if you have a lot of infections in the community, 20, 30, 40,000 infections, what happens is that the immunity between of the people”.
