The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Consulate General of France and the USA in Turkey issued warnings to their citizens living in Turkey.
A statement from the German Foreign Ministry said: “The burning of the Koran in front of the Turkish Embassy in Sweden increased the risk terrorist attacks in Turkey. For this reason, you should avoid crowded public places and places of worship. Be careful when you do it.”
In a statement by the US Embassy as reported by the milligazette and relayed by ERT emphasized: “Following the recent Koran burnings in Europe, the US government is warning its citizens of possible terrorist attacks on places of worship in Turkey. By targeting places of worship or places frequented by Westerners, terrorists can attack with little or no warning.”
