Fears of blackouts in France and Finland

Fears of possible power outages are expressed by France and will send to the prefectures a circular concerning what they should do in cases of such holidays in their territory.

According to the Le Monde newspaper, the possibility of a holiday is currently a work case, which, if it is deemed necessary to implement, will result in some people being without electricity between 8:00-13:00 and between 18:00-20:00 regions of the country.

However, even in this case, for 40% of the population of France, there will never be any interruption of the electricity supply current, reports the publication. It is pointed out, however, that if there are interruptions in entire regions, then the transport sectors will undoubtedly be affected – mainly railways, but also mobile telephony, reports the APE-MPE correspondent. The publication states that residents of these areas will be warned a day in advance.

Uncertainty in Finland too

The risk of short-term power outages increased to Finland due to uncertainty in domestic production and imports from abroad, Finland’s energy authority said today.

“The sufficiency of electricity in Finland is more uncertain than before for the coming winter. “Multiple simultaneous disruptions in domestic generation or transmission connections can lead to power shortages, even with little warning,” the Energy Authority said in a statement.

Finland’s national grid operator Fingrid has also warned of possible blackouts this winter, partly due to uncertainty over the start-up date of the new Olkiluoto 3 nuclear reactor.
