In an interview with CNN this Wednesday (31), the executive director of the Independent Fiscal Institution (IFI), Daniel Couri, evaluated that the 2023 Budget Law Project (PLOA 2023) that the proposal does not generate surprises, since the forecast of expenses for the following year should reflect current legislation.
“The budget could not have been different. So, the expenditure forecast for next year should reflect the current legislation. It is correct that there in the budget, although we hope that there will be an increase in the program, there is no concrete proposal. So the budget has to be prepared considering the average benefit of R$400, which is what is in the legislation today,” he said.
The project released by the federal government this Wednesday maintains the exemption of fuel taxes and does not provide for the readjustment of the Income Tax.
Regarding Auxílio Brasil, the government maintained the forecast of an average payment of R$ 405 per beneficiary, but emphasized that it “recognises the relevance of the aforementioned public policy and the importance of continuing that increase for the families served by the program”.
