A US Federal Court of Appeal prevented yesterday, the use of President Donald Trump, an exceptional 1798 “foreign enemies” law that had been used until recently in a period of war, to deport albeit members of a gang. It is a new blow to the US president who had cited this law last March. He had then deported over 200 people to Salvador as members of the Tren de Aragua gang, considered a foreign terrorist organization from Washington. Federal judge temporarily suspended, on March 15, the deportations on the basis of the law that had been used until then only during a war, mainly against Japanese and German nationals in American territory during World War II.
